This time, the KTO was kind enough to provide me with 4 tickets to watch some amazing plays! All of them were non-verbal performances, which are created so that there is no language needed to enjoy the show. The actors speak very little (or not at all!) Instead, the shows rely on a mix of exciting music and dancing to convey their often hilarious stories to an audience from around the world.
First off is a show called BiBap! This was a blend of cooking, dancing, beatboxing, acapella singing, martial arts, and b-boy dancing. The story line is split into 4 courses in which two chefs compete to make the ordered food, judged by a random audience member. All the sound effects are provided by the two hosting beatbox boys, their skills are really impressive! Each course has it's own hilarious theme with lots of audience interaction. You'll find yourself laughing, clapping, cheering, and sometimes even throwing things at the actors on stage. Watch out, you might even get pulled up on stage with them too! It's safe to say that people of any age will enjoy this one! If you are looking to see one performance in Seoul and love comedy and music, this would be my recommendation! I have always loved attending weddings, so this show was extra fun! I especially loved the comedy that the disapproving father brought to every scene. The music was being performed live by the actors on stage, which adds to the excitement! Even without dialogue, the story is easily followed through songs and gestures. If you are looking for a show, this is well worth the watch! More information about Music Show Wedding: Go check out their website! If you like percussion and the theme's of ‘Sexy, Speedy, Funny, Powerful, Wild', then this is a show you should really check out! This is a high energy show, and the music covers all sorts of genres! I have no idea how in the world their hair can look so nice after flipping it around so much! Magic, obviously. There's no other explanation. More information on Drum Cat: Go check out their website! These actors not only create gorgeous works of art in no time flat, but they also do it in an entertaining way, to the rhythm of the song playing! I couldn't dream of pulling off large scale drawings of famous works of art, even if they gave me a week to work on it. The sheer amount of awe I felt watching it left me speechless. Gorgeous artwork aside, the performance itself was funny and entertaining. The music choices and fun audience interactions really sealed the deal for me. Awesome performance!
